Updated February 10, 2021
As every year, February means opening the enrollment period at our preschool. But this year, our open house events, where we showcase our center and explain our educational model, have to change slightly due to COVID-19. Instead of welcoming you all together, it will be necessary to make an appointment in advance to ensure compliance with all the preventative measures indicated by the health authorities and to allow us to give you our full attention.
Although the way we conduct these open houses, which are part of the enrollment process for the 2020/2021 school year, will change, everything else remains the same. Our school is a place for those who want to offer their sons and daughters a free and active educational model, based on Waldorf pedagogy and which views each child with the respect acquired through more than 20 years of teaching experience.
Deadlines for enrolling my children in a nursery school
Our enrollment period for children aged 0 to 3 years begins and ends on March 31, 2021. While we are open to welcoming your children at any time of year, if you enroll before April 2021 you will be eligible to apply for the school grants, also known as childcare vouchers, offered by the Community of Madrid. For more information, please contact us; we'd be happy to help!
How do I get the childcare voucher?
We at Escuela Libre Allegra handle all the paperwork with the Community of Madrid to obtain the childcare voucher, so you don't have to worry about a thing. To be eligible for this grant, your child must be enrolled in school.
Although the deadline to apply for this voucher varies each year, it generally ends in April, so we recommend that you register your children between February and March to ensure that your application for this grant is within the deadlines.
The childcare voucher typically provides an average of between €1,100 and €1,600 per year, from September to July. All children enrolled between the ages of 0 and 3 are eligible. This means you will receive educational assistance for 11 months, amounting to between €100 and €160 per month.
What does the Waldorf educational model consist of?
Our educational model is based on Waldorf pedagogy (with 100 years of history) and Emmi Pikler, two reference models in free education, which advocate a type of free school where children are taught to think for themselves, to foster their self-esteem and development.
To achieve this, the teachers adapt to the child's needs at any given time, and we work both individually and with the group:
- Attention to physiological needs: we encourage them to become familiar with their body, benefiting their autonomy.
- The development of their autonomy, that is, that they become aware of their own limits and capabilities.
- Motor developmentit when the child is ready, so that learning is more stable.
